HARVARD COLLEGE OPERA
For nearly 30 years, we have made it our mission to introduce Harvard College to the art of opera and to provide opera performance opportunities to undergraduates. Harvard College Opera's history stretches back to the early 1990s, when a group of students in Dunster House of Harvard University, led by Ethan Sperry '93, began an annual tradition of staging operas in the Dunster House dining hall.

HCO produces one full-length opera every spring with an entirely undergraduate cast and production team. HCO is repurposing our intended 2021 production of Benjamin Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream into a dream-themed pastiche.
President's Statement
Of Wink and Trance is a world guided entirely by our own imaginations, at once vivid and hazy, sinister and curious, and sobering and enchanting. It represents both departure and continuity. Departure, because the circumstances have challenged us to create a completely original, for-the-screen production for the first time ever — while sprawled across the globe! Continuity, because we have always defied limitations, surpassed expectations, and come together to do what only we can do...

Directors' Statement
Dreams are our way of processing external events into private experiences. As we try to grapple with dramatic disruptions to our life and wellbeing, we believe that art-making is crucial for articulating, processing, and healing. Dreaming and art-making have a parallel purpose of rejuvenation which we hope to experience with our audience members....
